Being vegetarian isn’t just about the food you eat; it’s also about the items you use and wear every single day. None of our products or their ingredients have ever been tested on animals, and we work closely with suppliers who believe the same. Cruelty-free cosmetics

Did you know that the term “cosmetics” extends beyond just mascara, nail polish and eyeliner? “Cosmetics” also includes soap, shampoo, lotion and anything else you put on your skin for cosmetic reasons. Everything we make is always 100% vegetarian, so you can walk into any LUSH shop and find soap, Massage Bars, Bubble Bars, shampoos, conditioners, makeup and more made with only vegetarian ingredients.

Not sure about your other cosmetics?

Read the label. All of our packaging says 'Fighting Animal Testing', but others might simply state 'Not tested on animals', ‘Cruelty-free’ or 'We do not test on animals'. Still unsure? Contact the company directly and ask.

Know what ingredients to look for. Some common animal ingredients include carmine/cochineal (red pigment derived from crushed female cochineal insects), ambergris (extracted from whale intestinal tracts), cholesterol (derived from animal sources fat, nervous tissue, eggs and blood) and glycerin (a by-product of animal fat). Shoes, clothes and more

Choosing to buy vegetarian apparel guarantees that no animal was harmed in the making of the items in your wardrobe or bedroom. Keep these tips in mind when shopping for new items:

Choose imitation leather. Check the label for alternatives such as pleather, synthetic leather, man-made leather and waxed-cotton. They’re just like the real thing and are often cheaper than real leather or suede.

Stay away from silk. Silk alternatives feel just like real silk without doing any harm, including polyester, nylon, rayon, cotton, ceiba tree and silk-cotton tree filaments, milkweed seed-pod fibers, and tencel.

Down with down and feathers. Keep it cruelty-free with substitutes like polyester fill, synthetic down and other down alternatives.

Avoid wool products. Go with polyester fleece, cotton flannel, acrylic, orlon, synthetic wool and any other wool fabric with "synthetic".

Go faux. Look for clothing labels words like with faux fur, polyester, acrylic or mod-acrylic, which all look and feel just like the real thing.

Reuse and recycle. There are plenty of materials that are being repurposed and turned into a variety of different fabrics. Our Knot-Wraps, for instance, are made from 100% recycled plastic and can be worn as a scarf, used to wrap gifts or wrap up other items and carry them everywhere.

When you hear the word “vegetarian”, food almost always comes to mind. Choosing a vegetarian diet is healthy, delicious and super easy. There are tons of websites and books with recipes and ways to help you make great choices for you and your family.
