Aimee O'Donnell Saunders

In the Kingston Market Place, in the autumn of 1999, Aimee O’Donnell Saunders became hooked on the idea of LUSH, on cosmetics made FRESH, out of beautiful, active ingredients. The products have been a part of her life (and bathroom) ever since. As luck would have it, Aimee got a temporary job at the Powell Street shop in San Francisco in November 2004. Another toss of the LUSH dice found her keeping that job well beyond the holidays as she’s still around! Aimee’s enjoyed the opportunity to be a Product Trainer for North America for over 7 years, travel extensively, and work with LUSH folk in a plethora of projects. She is known for ever-changing hairstyles, favoring bold patterns and bright colors, and rowdy cheering at baseball games. You can find her in San Francisco most days - just follow the scent of Furze perfume.

Get Your Glow On

Is your skin looking a little less than luminous these days?

Silk Stockings and Black Stockings are here to help! Moisturizing cocoa and Shea butters melt easily so the shimmery colors blend evenly—while gorgeous essential oils perfume the skin. This is the quickest way to amp up your color without hitting the beach—or coating your skin in color-changing chemicals.

Silk Stockings can even out naturally pinkish skin tones or act as a highlighter for skin with deeper pigments. Apply to the collarbone, décolletage, shins, or anywhere you want to draw the eye. It’s fantastic for a candle-lit setting! Scented with come-hither rose and jasmine, two of the most beloved perfume ingredients for inducing romance. No additional perfume required—unless desired.

Black Stockings has the most pigment to illuminate darker skin tones, or deepen pale skin for a just-back-from-Barbados look. This is one especially effective on bare legs to give them a smooth finish and a warm, sultry glow. The perfume has a spicy twist of pimento berry oil, cinnamon, and orange—creating a cozy feeling to cuddle into. Created with a Caribbean inspiration, this will have you looking and feeling ready for a sunny beach long before summer hi...

Packing 101

LUSH is a global business, and our North American branch of the family tree covers Honolulu to Halifax, and Prince George to Miami.

There is a lot of ground to cover - and just as much water! Many LUSH professionals travel widely and for as many various reasons as you might imagine…and then some. As well, LUSH events might call for any number of costumes, or at least wigs and other gag finery not to mention props, ingredients, and random materials; as a LUSH Trainer for over 7 years, I had all sorts of unusual, precious or just downright outrageous items packed in (and out- by security-) of my suitcases.

Good packing became an occupational requirement for me. Years of planning my self-expression into carry-on-sized collections for particular events have honed a few tried-and-true favorite packing tips. I use them for trips ranging from overnight to over-the-globe, and time and again they come in handy. Feel free to add yours in the comments below.

Know Thyself, And Thy Destination

Where are you going and what do you need while you’re there? Sounds simple enough, but if you’ve ever lugged clunky shoes around you never wore while away, a moment’s reflection now can save additional baggage fees later. This doesn’t have to be complicated, but it does require understanding your bare essentials for personal style, as well as possessing a clue about where you are going. The first one can take years to get right, but thankfully for the second one at least, there’s an app for that.

5 Tubs To Soak Your Imagination In

Where would your imagination take a bath?  What LUSH products would it use?

When we let ours wander, they naturally head on-line, especially to the great virtual playground Pinterest. Did you know LUSH is on there? Our board for Dream Bathrooms is where our favorite fantasy settings abound. Countless gorgeous bathrooms exist out there - here are five that make our water run hotter:

LUSH baths are anything but boring, and most of them are brightly colored extravaganzas. Some are filled with flower petals, and Big Blue contains arame seaweed. Oh, the fun we’d have enjoying the colors both in and outside this tub! We'd love to see a glass tub like this next to a giant aquarium to indulge our inner mermaids just a little bit more.

Grow Your Own LUSH Herb Garden

Fresh herbs are used every day in LUSH kitchens.

Whole bundles of herbs are inspected and prepared by our compounders for each batch they make of anything calling for an “infusion” or “decoction”. As well, they pour into our mixtures delicate essential oils from herbs and plant material gathered from across the globe. We start with material from nature, and rely on our vast knowledge about herbal medicine, aromatherapy and horticulture. Best-selling products like Angels On Bare SkinNew Shampoo Bar, and the entire FRESH Face Mask range just the start of the products that brim with herbal infusions, powders, essential oils, and sometimes, a flower too. Taking inspiration from these and other LUSH products, you can easily till your own herb garden before spring is over--and enjoy all the benefits these useful friends can offer.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Cinco de Mayo is sometimes mistaken as Mexican Independence Day, but that’s a whole other reason to celebrate on September 16.

May’s famous festival is an annual remembrance of an unlikely victory, May 5, 1862 in Puebla, Mexico. Successfully holding off the better-equipped French Army in the Battle of Puebla was indeed a cause for celebration; nowadays, north of the border, celebrating extends into a special day full of festivals, dancing, and appreciation for Mexican heritage and pride.

If you can’t get to Puebla this year, you can still enjoy a LUSH Fiesta:

Lively lemongrass will wake you up, but it’s the mango and avocado butters that really make You’ve Been Mangoed Bath Melt a great pick for a Cinco De Mayo soak. Mexican Mangos are among the country’s largest fruit exports--and considered a gold standard for their flavor. Though n...
