Katy’s LUSH journey began in 2009 at the Robson Street store. Here, she abandoned her ego, donned a Sex Bomb costume and spread LUSH love through the streets of Vancouver during the 2010 Winter Olympics. Since then, Katy’s worked in LUSH manufacturing as a manager-in-training in the Gifts department and has most recently joined the Copy team where she’s excited to share her LUSH passion through the written word (though she’ll miss the Sex Bomb costume). Katy’s a self-proclaimed cheesecake connoisseur and crazy cat lady. When she’s not LUSHin’ it up, you’ll find her hiking the north shore trails or perfecting her sangria recipe.

Our products are loaded with fresh ingredients that we use for their benefits on the skin and hair, but they’ve also inspired us to make these delicious frozen treats that’ll be perfect for your next patio party!

Here’s what you’ll need to make the pops:

-Re-usable ice pop molds (if you don’t have reusable molds, use any freezable container you like: try using small glass jar and popsicle sticks.)

-A blender or food processor

-A freezer (with enough space to house your frozen treats)

-Ingredients as set out in the recipes below

Miranda fruit pop

kiwi orange vegan popsicle recipe

Just as a certain fruit-hat-wearing dancer inspired our fruity kiwi-orange Miranda soap, Miranda soap has inspired this yummy icy fruit pop! Fresh kiwis are cleansing and brightening for the skin and make a delicious tropical pop when paired with fresh oranges. We don’t recommend balancing this one on your head… it’s better to have it melt in your mouth!

-2 kiwis

-2 medium oranges

-1 cup water

-1 cup yogurt or coconut mil...

Perfume-free: We Do the Coco Lotion

We fully embrace our reputation of being the smelliest shop on the block, so to create an unscented body lotion seems quite unlike us.

But when we smelled the fabulous tropical aroma of Coco Lotion’s gorgeous ingredients, we knew that this was one LUSHious treat that didn’t need any additional perfume. The unperfumed nature of Coco Lotion makes it perfect for those of us with irritable skin, an extra-sensitive nose, or for perfume purists who prefer a body lotion that moisturizes their skin without competing with their signature scent.

Though we don’t add any perfume to Coco Lotion, you'll surely find a subtle aroma when you open up a pot. The tropical ingredients combine beautifully to make you feel like you’re at the beach on an exotic island each time you apply (and for the rest of the day when you catch a whiff!) This gentle, but intoxicating smell is comprised only of the gorgeous skin-softening and nourishing ingredients that we put into each handmade batch.

Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

We do enjoy a lovely bunch of coconuts, especially when they give us luxuriously silky extra virgin coconut oil! 25% of each pot of Coco Lotion is coconut oil, but the love affair doesn’t stop there- we use coconut oil in our facial moisturizers, massage bars, bubbleroons and loads of other favorites. Jasmine Polsinelli: Fighting for a Fur-Free Canada

“My goal is to stop the fur trade in Canada by the time I’m 20.”

11-year-old Jasmine Polsinelli has set an aggressive goal, but her dedication to animal rights makes it clear that she intends to accomplish it. I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Jasmine about her animal protection efforts when we called her at home in Oshawa, Ontario on an April afternoon. She had prepared answers to my questions before our discussion and bashfully warned me that she may mix up her words… though when we began chatting, I found her answers weren’t from a well-rehearsed script, but from the heart of an enthusiastic and intelligent individual with a remarkable love of animals.

We first became acquainted with Jasmine during our Canadian “Fur Trim is a Trap” campaign in which we partnered with The Association for the Protection of Fur-Bearing Animals. Our joint efforts raised awareness about the cruelty behind trapping animals for their fur and resulted in 5000 signed postcards that appealed to Dani Reiss, President and CEO of Canada Goose, to stop supporting the industry by using coyote fur on the company’s jackets. The jackets are quickly becoming an icon of Canadian fashion, and by extension we’re seeing an unfortunate resurgence in the popularity of fur for fashion.

Jasmine bravely volunteered to personally hand-deliver the postcards- she was inspired by the thousands of individuals who, after l...
