10 Things You Might Not Know About EGGS!

Eggs add life to damaged hair, and promote healthy skin functions too. Binding together other ingredients in Fresh Face Masks and hair care, eggs are an important ingredient in many LUSH favorites, including Cosmetic Warrior Fresh Face Mask and H’Suan Wen Hua Hair Moisturizer.
1. In Maya culture, the color yellow is associated with life. One of the primary examples supporting this is the color of an egg yolk.
2. Eggs contain protein and a host of vitamins and minerals that encourage hair’s conditioning in products like H’Suan Wen Hua Hair Moisturizer, Curly Wurly Shampoo and Shine So Bright Split End Treatment. These are products targeted for the most thirsty, lack-luster hair!
3. All that protein makes them effective in a restorative function on the hair, building tensile strength, which increases the hair’s ability to withstand tension. Imagine the difference a pair of gloves would make if you were about to climb a rope. The rough rope might otherwise shred up your hands, but the gloves give you more traction, increasing your tensile strength.
4. A Hen may lay around 365 eggs per year, but this can (free-)range quite a bi...

LUSH Hall of Fame: Fresh Face Masks
Few LUSH products are more posted, pinned, tweeted or instagrammed (is that a word now?) than our Fresh Face Masks.
Our customers love to smother their faces in our masks of fresh fruits, vegetables, herb infusions and essential oils, make silly faces, and then post it for everyone to see! You really are a weird bunch. But we love you anyway.

Fresh Detox Solutions
With New Year's resolutions in full swing, there are quite a few of us vowing to put health as a priority in 2013. Perhaps you've made a pledge to hit the pavement or the gym for the first time in... years? Or maybe revamping your diet is at the top of your list. One great way to get your body in gear after weeks of overeating, drinking, and being merry is a detox.
While we do recommend that you consult with your health practitioner to create a plan that is best suited to your personal needs, you can get started in the kitchen with a smoothie filled with fresh, nutritious ingredients. There are numerous smoothie recipes available, so we thought we'd try some to give you the best scoop. They are delicious, easy to make, and vegan and gluten-free too! Even better? They contain some of our favorite fresh ingredients for making products too.

New Year, New Beginnings
Happy New Year!
Now that the holidays have almost all passed, (the 12 Days of Christmas end on January 6th), the hangovers are slowly subsiding, and the pants that fit last week are now cutting off circulation; it's time to celebrate a new year. There are so many ways to ring in the New Year - polar bear swims, shiny new calendars, and maybe even new pants. And of course, there's that tradition that never seems to stick - resolutions.
At LUSH, we believe in the right to make mistakes, lose everything, and start all over again. We also believe in keeping it Fresh. A new year, and a fresh start never gets old with us. While change and starting over can happen at any time, there's nothing like the optimism of a new year to revaluate, set goals, and make it happen.
There's no right or wrong way to make a resolution - you don’t even need to call it a resolution. You can approach it from the perspective of wanting to take action on some part of you, or you can see it as an opportunity to look forward to events and celebrations of the coming year. So whether you want to stop biting your nails, finally take the leap on a decision you've been procrastinating on, or make a collage of aspirations - it's completely up to you.
The most important thing to consider when setting a resolution for yourself? Have a positive attitude, and set clear, attainable steps to make it happen. Don’t try to do too much at once. They say it takes 28 days to break a habit; why not break those 28 days up into 28 daily goals to get you on your way?
For example, if you've decided that this is the year that you're going to start taking more bubble baths, here are some ideas to get you started:

Skin Care Gets Personal
On a balmy Fall afternoon, the LUSH Times team hit Robson Street in Vancouver and met Stephanie, a LUSH virgin. We sat her down at our LUSH Robson store and handed her over to skincare guru Nicola to take our personalized skin care consultation for a test drive.
Every skincare consultation at LUSH begins with a Q&A session to help us find the products most compatible with your skin. We believe that your skin is as unique as your fingerprint, so your skincare routine should be as well. Don’t be shy! Our friendly staff members are here to help you find the routine that works best for you. You can expect questions like: what’s your current skin care routine, are you having any issues or concerns, how does your skin feel now, and how do you want your skin to feel after cleansing and moisturizing? Once you fill us in we can get to work suggesting products or an entire routine that will suit your needs and lifestyle.
We sat our willing subject down for a short question session with Nicola, who determined that products with gentle formulations would work best to keep Stephanie’s normal skin looking gorgeous. Then it was on to the best part, trying out the routine. At LUSH, we believe that you should be able to take products for a test drive before you buy, so we offer the option of a complimentary mini facial in store. For Stephanie, Nicola began with Ultrabland, a LUSH cult classic cleanser, to gently remove makeup and dirt while keeping skin soft and supple. Next, Nicola applied Full of Grace, a solid facial serum with Portobello mushrooms, to add a layer of nourishing anti-oxidants to her skin. Over top of the serum Nicola added Read More...
