Being a Working Mum at LUSH
We have some amazing working moms at LUSH, we appreciate and respect their dedication and contributions at work, knowing that everyday they have to go home and give that same energy and enthusiasm to their kids.
If their creativity and hard work at home is anything like what they bring to the table at work, we can only imagine what powerful children they are raising! We asked a few moms what its like being a mom and working for LUSH.

Erika Edwards from Marketing and Charitable Givings in Vancouver says, “Being part of the LUSH family, and being a Mom works well because there is understanding and support from co-workers and management that you have Mom responsibilities outside of work that are important, and having a work/life balance is encouraged.”

That’s great to hear from our Head Office employees; but LUSH has mom employees across North America, many of whom travel extensively in their roles. Ginny Stanley from the Retail Support Team based in Chicago agrees with Erika, “Being a mom and being a LUSH employee are a great combination because LUSH doesn't make me choose between being a good mom and being a good employee. They make it easy to devote the time I need to my family”. Even with her travel schedule, Ginny is able to work around her families needs and ...

Employee Profile: Meet Lee O'Connor
Ever wonder what Manu folk do when we’re not making bubbles or massage bars?
Well if you’re Inventory Management Specialist Lee O'Connor, the moment you get out of work or school, you grab your bike and hit the beautiful city of Vancouver to raise money for charities!
As a vegan, an active member of our Manu Charity Pot Team and Manu Green Team, and with a workout schedule that would put most of us to shame, Lee is one of those true gems of LUSH. He does so many amazing things for others and has such an amazing positive attitude all the time, that he’s really someone the rest of us here in the factory look up to! He’s almost never without a smile or a kind word for someone, and he’s taking that positivity to the streets to pass it along!
An avid bike rider, Lee came up with the idea for his nightly charity rides in January of 2013: for the following 365 days, every time he goes on a bike ride (usually every night), he takes a photo of the area of Vancouver that he’s in! Once he posts it on Facebook, his friends and family have the chance to try and guess where in the city the photo was taken – not an easy feat! If they guess it right, Lee donates $5 of his own money to the charity, non-profit, or activist organization of their choice! If no one guesses in between pictures, or if he misses a day, the money rolls over into the next day and is added to that day’s $5! There have been days where the pot has literally climbed, along with Lee, to $50!
...LUSH Careers: Living the LUSH Life
Many of us long-term LUSH employees are asked how we got our dream job at LUSH. Often the answer is that they started their career at the "top" as a part-time employee during our busy holiday season. We call it the top, because these are our customer-facing employees in the retail stores, and our product-making wizards in the kitchen.
No one is more vital to the holiday experience at LUSH, and their experience in this role helps to inform the rest of their career with the company. I know it does mine, and I talked to several fellow LUSHies who felt the same way.

Take Karla and Yuliya from our manufacturing rooms in Vancouver and Toronto. Karla spent her first holiday at LUSH in a local store, selling our products to customers before applying for a position in Manufacturing the following year - that was 6 Christmases ago.
“Something that has followed me through Manufacturing is the question, ‘Would I buy this?’ Being handmade LUSH products maintain an element of uniqueness with every batch, but if I can honestly answer, ‘Yes, I would buy this product,’ then I know it has meet the quality that I was trained to sell to customers. “
Yuliya was hired 7 Christmases ago in the gift wrap room. As a Buyer, she says of her experience in Manufacturing: “Having an understanding of the processes and how our products are made has a huge impact on the decisions I now make related to what product to purchase, in what quantities and how well it will suits our nee...
