Happy New Year!

Now that the holidays have almost all passed, (the 12 Days of Christmas end on January 6th), the hangovers are slowly subsiding, and the pants that fit last week are now cutting off circulation; it's time to celebrate a new year. There are so many ways to ring in the New Year - polar bear swims, shiny new calendars, and maybe even new pants. And of course, there's that tradition that never seems to stick - resolutions.

At LUSH, we believe in the right to make mistakes, lose everything, and start all over again. We also believe in keeping it Fresh. A new year, and a fresh start never gets old with us. While change and starting over can happen at any time, there's nothing like the optimism of a new year to revaluate, set goals, and make it happen.

There's no right or wrong way to make a resolution - you don’t even need to call it a resolution. You can approach it from the perspective of wanting to take action on some part of you, or you can see it as an opportunity to look forward to events and celebrations of the coming year. So whether you want to stop biting your nails, finally take the leap on a decision you've been procrastinating on, or make a collage of aspirations - it's completely up to you.

The most important thing to consider when setting a resolution for yourself? Have a positive attitude, and set clear, attainable steps to make it happen. Don’t try to do too much at once. They say it takes 28 days to break a habit; why not break those 28 days up into 28 daily goals to get you on your way?

We believe in happy people making happy soap, putting our faces on our products and making our mums proud.

We grabbed a camera, went around the business, and asked our employees to tell us what they loved about working for LUSH. We didn't tell them why we were making this video - these are their unscripted, unprompted answers.

We've had to keep a secret for a few weeks now and it's been really hard not to tell anyone. Transparency is integral to who we are, but we promised to keep our lips sealed.

In fact, until now our employees didn’t even know.

We are very proud to (finally!) announce that LUSH Cosmetics has been recognized and ranked #26 as one of the 50 Best Employers in Canada for 2013!

Even better? The Best Employers award is determined by employee feedback. In June, we asked our employees to fill out a survey administered by a third party, Aon Hewitt. We scored an unbelievable 79% on a variety of criteria and questions that determined our performance as an employer. We are truly humbled by the response.

But we also know we aren't perfect. The feedback we have gained from the survey is invaluable and will help us to improve and grow our business. Happy people are making happy soap, and we want to continue to make them proud. We wouldn't be who we are without our amazing employees. This recognition is an incredible honor, and an accomplishment shared by everyone here at LUSH.

Fresh is more than a name or gimmick here at LUSH; it’s at the core of who we are.

We’ve always focused on creating innovative products with the best and freshest ingredients possible, and we’ll continue in our adventures in cosmetics to create inventive and effective alternatives to the ordinary.

LUSH products are freshly made by hand, but you probably knew that by now. Although there have been enough questions over the years that we know some of you are quite convinced that our products are made by Oompa Loompas! The factories where are our products are made are magical; but there are very real people behind each and every product. The face stickers reveal the very person who crafted your soap, shower gel, and body lotion.

When the fresh fruits and vegetables get delivered- including vodka, honey and chocolate our neighbors may wonder if we are in fact making delectable goodies, and not soap. The honey and chocolate gets blended into delectable goodies, but goodies made for your bath and body.

We like to use the finest ingredients and we have Buyers who seek to find the best honey, chocolate, seaweed, and even organic vegan stout from around the world. If you consider an ingredient good enough to eat, then it makes perfect sense that it would be good enough for your body. There is no need for us to employ squirrels to sort out the good nuts from the bad, we buy only the best nuts and nut oils from suppliers we investigate and trust.
