U.S. hospitals waste thousands of tons of unused, sterile medical supplies and functional equipment every day. Doc2Doc has built a strong network of medical professionals and volunteers in the U.S. and developing countries to collect, sort, ship and redistribute usable medical supplies and equipment to developing countries in need. So far, their shipments have helped bring hope and care to more than two million people in the developing world. And, in the process, reduced waste in the U.S.
LUSH funds went towards the costs of the telecommunications project in Southern Sudan for Doc2Doc's partner hospital. Regular communication will enable doctors on the ground to speak with, and ask questions from, doctors in North America regarding the medical supplies as well as medical advice which will enhance the quality of care for the local patients.
