Fresh Mint (Mentha arvensis)

Fresh mint (Mentha piperita)

Mint (Mentha) is named after the Greek nymph ‘Minthe,’ which means ‘green’. There are many varieties of mint of the Labiatae plant family, but our fresh mint is Mentha piperita or peppermint.

Mints are native to the Near East, these herbs are now grown all over the world.

Mint was used in ancient times for many different purposes and is still used today in teas, iced drinks, and salads.

Herbalists use it externally to treat itching skin conditions, burns, ringworm, and respiratory tract infections.

It is well known for its strong and cooling flavour and smell; this is mainly due to the menthol present in the plant. Menthol is antiseptic and cooling.

The fresh mint leaves share properties with the peppermint essential oil that we use in our perfume.

The leaves are broken stripped from the stalks and blended straight into our products.

Our Cupcake Fresh Face Mask contains fresh mint leaves blended directly for its antiseptic and cooling qualities.
