Mint (Mentha) is named after the Greek nymph ‘Minthe,’ which means ‘green’. There are many varieties of mint of the Labiatae plant family, but our mint is Mentha piperita or Peppermint. Native to the Near East, these herbs are grown all over the world.
Mint was used in ancient times for many different purposes and is still used today in teas, iced drinks, and salads.
Herbalists use it externally to treat itching skin conditions, burns, ringworm, and respiratory tract infections.
It is well known for its strong and cooling flavour and smell; this is mainly due to the menthol present in the plant. Menthol is antiseptic and cooling.
The mint leaves share properties with the peppermint essential oil that we use in our perfume.
We use fresh, organic mint leaves that are grown locally.
The leaves are broken stripped from the stalks and blended straight into our products.
We use mint in our Demon In The Dark soaps for its refreshing and cooling effect on the skin.
