Fresh cantaloupe melon (Cucumis cantalupensis)

The cantaloupe melon, belonging to the muskmelon group, is native to India and Guinea, but are now cultivated in many other countries including Brazil, Egypt and other European countries.

Cantaloupes were first cultivated in the town Cantalupo, meaning wolf howl, in Italy, which is where they get their name.

Melon is usually a very popular food to eat during the summer months, as it is very rehydrating and cleansing on the body.

It is also packed full of vitamin C, which is known to have many great benefits on the body.

Vitamin C is easily destroyed when it comes into contact with oxygen, excessive heat and some metals (especially when in liquid form). However, many studies have been conducted on it as a cosmetic ingredient because of its excellent antioxidant properties and ability to boost collagen production.

The fresh melon is cut up and blended before being added tour fresh handmade cosmetics.

We use fresh cantaloupe melon in our Retread hair conditionerfor its conditioning properties.
