We Believe In The Supernatural

At LUSH, we want to make "natural" mean something again. Natural ingredients are strong, effective, powerful things but people often think that natural just means gentle and mild. On the contrary, ingredients taken straight from plants have to be handled carefully to make sure they deliver their powerful benefits to our minds and bodies, safely and consistently. That's what LUSH is good at, but it is tricky. Herbalists have to know which ones are best to use on which occasions to put plants' superpowers to good use.

We make products that out-natural anything else you can buy. Here, we like to introduce you to some of our extreme naturals, our Super Naturals, products with supernatural powers to improve your skin and hair over the long-term as well as having an effect. Try them and you'll start to believe in magic.

Angels on Bare Skin 100% Natural

Angels on Bare Skin is a simple enough idea: clay and ground almonds to cleanse and gently exfoliate your facial skin, glycerine for suppleness plus lavender oil to balance the amount of oil your skin produces naturally, soothing chamomile, protective benzoin and rose absolute to soften your face. There are no preservatives in it so it helps to maintain your skin’s natural flora, your own defences against microbial attack. It looks like a lump of rough putty but it smells divine and works like magic.

Ingredient Feature: Rose Absolute

We buy our rose fragrance from Turkey, where all the locals join in to harvest the pink petals when they are at their peak of perfume perfection. Two of its important, active, naturally occurring molecules are citronellol and geraniol, which help to keep skin soft and smooth, but it has over 300 known ingredients which make up the variety of different rose scents and add to its effects. It’s possible to make synthetic versions of a rose scent but we’d always prefer fields of rose bushes full of birds and healthy wildlife rather than acres of industrial units. We use rose for its fabulously sexy scent and to improve the appearance and texture of skin and hair.
