Cocoa powder contains a residue of cocoa butter, giving it a soft texture. It is rich in antioxidant polyphenol (flavonoid) content; higher than in some fruits and vegetables.

The oil has a very refreshing, sweet, tangy aroma and is golden yellow in colour. The wild variety produces oil with a particularly zesty mouth-watering scent.
