I smelled the bottle in the Lush Shop, and I had to smell it a few times before I decided I liked the scent. But I've been a Lush junkie for a while to know that the scent in the bottle/pot is different than when you actually use it in the shower or bath. When I used it in the shower, I was a little disappointed with how liquid-y it was, and I had to use a little more than I wanted to lather it up (but I also have very long, thick hair).

When I towel dried my hair, the smell was amazing. I could definitely smell the violet and lemon, and the bergamot (one of my favorite scents). I went to bed with my hair still damp and woke up this morning. When I got up, my hair fell over my shoulder and I got this huge waft of fragrance- it smells DELICIOUS. I brushed my hair in the mirror, and my hair is so shiny and feels so CLEAN! This was definitely worth the buy.

I'll caution that the scent is very heavy in the bottle, but softens when you use it. My hair has definitely been benefited from this! Thanks, Lush!

I received a sample of this at my local Lush store today and used it and LOVED it!! It did a great job of brightening up my hair after only one use and had a pleasant smell, especially when compared to regular brightening shampoos! Will get this again for sure. :)

After trying a couple different violet shampoos, I was wary to purchase yet another one. I cannot tell you how glad I am that I did! This wonderful smelling shampoo left my blonde hair shiny, clean, and very healthy! It toned down any brassiness I had in my hair and left it looking fresh and beautiful after every use. Be careful about using Lush hair products with mainstream products as the chemicals in your non-lush products can confuse your hair a bit! I'm a big supporter of buying Lush shampoo and conditioner and cutting out your other products, it's healthier for your hair!

I used this product for the first time when it was given to me as a sample in my local lush store. Of all the lush products I've used, the scent of this one stayed on me the longest(which I loved). If you're not a fan of the scent then I wouldn't recommend using it, I smell like it even the day after I shower. It defiantly made my naturally blonde hair brighter as it claims. People were actually asking me, "what did you do differently to your hair today?". It's also a really cool color and even the lather is a light shade of purple! After finishing my sample I immediately went back and bought myself the large bottle. It does not dry out my hair so I use it every other day, alternating with "big" shampoo and "veganese" conditioner. It also doesn't leave build-up in my hair and I've been using it for 4 months now.

Bottom line: I'm in love with this shampoo.

I used this shampoo and immediately saw a difference in my very long and light blonde colored hair. My hair was brighter and full of new shine and body. I have very fine hair and Daddyo gave it some nice volume. I also found that throughout the day, I could smell a wonderful light, delightful fragrance lingering on my locks from the shampoo. I am very picky about my hair products, (buy nothing but the best)and I love that I found this! I will continue to buy this wonderful shampoo to keep my brassiness in check. Love, love,love it!

For starters, this shampoo smells nothing like lemons or limes, or even violets. To me it smells exactly like grape jelly. Which wouldn't be so bad if the scent wasn't so overpowering. It's a VERY strong scent and lasted on my hair for daaaays.
Another con about this shampoo is that it is very watery, which means it takes a while to lather. As for making blonde hair,well, "blonder" i think it does its job. IN the store i tested the product on my hand, then rubbed in it after smelling it, it had died that spot on my hand pink. Weird. But overall i would buy this product again, I've gotten several compliments on my hair smelling good.

Of all the Lush products I've ever bought, this one smells the foulest. I love the effect of it -- nice and bright and shiny -- but oh, the smell. It is this horrid, chemical smell that fills the entire bathroom. Luckily it never seems to linger on my hair afterward, but it is always a hold your breath and shampoo FAST experience. Probably I'll switch to another Lush shampoo after I've used up this bottle. Also? It is a crazy deep purple color that stains everything.

I was slight nervous about using this since when I put it in my hand it was dark purple. I am so glad I did though! My hair smells amazing, and it has been hours since I took my shower. My hair is super soft and shiny. I know what I am going to be using from now on!

I use this stuff every other day, and I have no complaints about its effectiveness. It makes my hair look awesome, and the purple bubbles are a lot of fun. I really don't like the smell of it, but once I condition it, the smell goes away. My hair feels really clean after I use it, which is great because I can go that extra day without washing! It is something that I will buy again!

After a recent trip to the salon left me with grey-ish locks instead of beautiful blonde ones that I was hoping for, I needed major help. This product eliminated the grey and silver tones, and left my hair healthier and improved the color drastically!

I only received a small sample and used very little. Got two washings out of the tiny sample and I have shoulder length THICK hair. I like to alternate shampoos as my hair behaves better. I really liked how my hair felt and looked after using DaddyO. My hair is grey with some white and I thought it really helped with shine and dullness. I REALLY like it but the price is ridiculous. Sorry, it is.

I see a majority of people think the smell of this product is something heavenly. I disagree 100%. I studied the smell for some time trying to force myself to love the scent. They say it smells like violets but I am confused why lemons are plastered all over this webpage instead of the violets (yes I know lemon/lime juice is in the formula). I do not get a lemons scent whatsoever. Its a VERY strong chemical smell not even attempting to be natural. To me it smells like melting plastic or rubber (like a tire) with a sweet molasses-like undertone. I still wanted to give the scent a chance after I used it on my hair so I used a conditioner with almost no scent. It does smell better after you shampoo (possibly because of the very light conditioner masking a bit of it) but I still get the plastic and rubber smell and it is extremely strong still. My boyfriend cannot stand it when we are next to each other. It will probably linger for the next couple of days which can get very sickening/annoying. I really want to wash my hair again with a different shampoo so I can take this god awful smell out. I do not know what the hype is about!

My hair felt very clean, which I liked but at the same time It was hard to work up a lather. I was told to use just a quarter sized amount but that did not work for me I had to use 6 times that amount to feel like it was efficiently lathering my entire scalp and still the lather felt like water when it reached my ends. It only made a thin lather, nothing luxurious like I would have hoped for that everyone talks about. And my hair is not thick or curly just average wavy past shoulder length hair so its not like I have much to work with that I need a lot of product.

It did make my hair shiny, as expected since It has nothing to weigh hair down with such as silicone and what nots.

I do not think this is moisturizing at all (but I mean that what conditioner is for I suppose) so I do not think it is good for everyday or for thick ethnic/african hair. I feel like it will strip my red color very easily because of the squeaky clean feeling it provides. It would best work with blonde hair 2-3 times a week just to keep the brassy at bay but it is nothing I can see myself calling a holy-grail product. Brunettes with brassy tones can certainly use it also.

I am really dreading having to go to my Lush trial and having to sell this to customers because this is the product I am required to focus on. I do not know what good I have to say about this to customers so I hope I can make a good impression otherwise and get hired to work for Lush because I really think they have some amazing products other than this!

I love this shampoo! I got the small one for trying and now I am sure I'll get the big one! I don´t want to cover my white hair, but I want to make sure that they shine!

The only "but" it's that the violet color may dye the bathtub!

This is absolutely AMAZING. Daddy-O is both the best shampoo I've ever used and the best Lush product I've ever used. It is my absolute favorite, a constant in my shower, a must-have!

I've tried everything from Brilliant Brunette to Biolage, from Herbal Essences to Bumble and bumble . . . but nothing compares to Daddy-O.

. By the way, I have dark brown Asian hair with natural highlights, even though this shampoo is recommended for lighter shades. Honestly, I would recommend it for pretty much anyone with hair.

Its stand-out quality is how shiny it makes my hair It makes my hair shiny beyond belief. I honestly can't even describe it; you've got to try it for yourself.

It also brings out my natural highlights, and seriously smoothes and softens my hair. After using it, my hair is full of body, yet feels light and silky.

This shampoo also gives my hair just the right amount of moisture. It never dries my hair out, nor does it make it greasy. It just feels completely squeaky clean. And when I say squeaky clean, I really mean it!

On top of everything else, the smell is amazing. It really does smell like violets . . . so I hope you like violets!

The shampoo is actually a deep purple color, which is pretty shocking the first time you use it. It even lathers up purple! I was almost scared it was going to dye my hair, but don't worry - it does no such thing. It's actually kind of fun once you get used to it.

One bottle lasts for ages. I have thin hair, but lots and lots (and lots and lots) of it, but one 8.4oz bottle still lasted me maybe 4 months. And I wasn't even trying to save it.

I've used many violet shampoos to keep my platinum hair bright, and while they did, they also made my hair rather...crunchy, as though there was gel in it. This shampoo has eliminated that while doing the job it should, and it smells amazing. Also, the smell lingers in my hair without being overpowering, and it's really just lovely. It doesn't strip my hair of its natural oils either, but it still feels clean.

I've noticed that my hair is lighter in just three uses. I'll definitely be buying again, and in the bigger size next time. ;D

I wash my hair every other day, and I have colored hair (got blue, purple, red -wacky colors) and this really makes a difference. I haven't used it for very long but I do have some blond parts and it got brighter with the use. My hair overall has better shine, smoother, softer, and brighter (definitely). I am very happy with my choice!

I dye my hair platinum blond about every month, also my hair is thin, so I have a problem with dead ends and dry tangled hair. I bought Daddy-O because I wanted to buy a shampoo to go along with my lush conditioner (Veganese) but I also didnt want my color to fade.

I used Daddy-O and after the first time, my hair was softer and shinier. My hairdresser was even impressed at how my color retained its platinum. Veganese and Daddy-O work great together, this is a great product!

I love Daddy-O! I'm a brunette but I still love the scent of the shampoo, it lasts all day, I just use a half dollar size amount for my mid-back length hair and it suds up really well. I use it with Veganese and my hair ends up being really soft and light weight even though it's really long.
