When we talk about being fresh we aren't referring to our propensity for being cheeky - we really mean it. LUSH puts the fresh and handmade into cosmetics. Our Fresh face masks are the pinnacle of that philosophy. We make them weekly in our LUSH Kitchens with fresh fruit and veg, effective essential oils and keep them completely preservative-free! That's why you need to store them in the fridge. In fact, they're so fresh that we can't even sell them online! Next time you visit a LUSH shop be sure to try one out, read on here to find out more.
Did You Know?
To look after your skin properly, eat fresh food and drink enough fluids, but when you want to give it an instantaneous boost to then what you want is a fresh face mask, whipped up with fruit, vegetables, herbs and natural clays.
These masks contain absolutely no synthetic preservatives at all. This is great because masks stay on your skin for a while, penetrating deeply into your skin and naturally you'd want something like that to be as pure and good for your body as possible.
Just like food for the inside of your body, this 'food' for your skin is best used as fresh as possible; there are no preservatives except for the natural combinations of essential oils carefully developed by Helen Ambrosen, LUSH's head of arts and science.
The origin of the face mask may date back to ancient Egyptian times. Cleopatra was known for covering her face in egg whites and leaving it to dry overnight. The ‘mask’ was said to tighten her skin and keep her looking youthful.
Kaolin, rhassoul mud and deep sea mud are among the most popular ingredients used in face masks for their ability to ‘draw out’ impurities and deeply cleanse the skin.
