IndigenEYEZ is medicine for relationships. Our mission is to engage, inspire, and mobilize Indigenous youth. We help them create healthy relationships with themselves, with community, and with the land, building a foundation for lifelong well-being. We draw on best practices in youth empowerment that have been delivering results for decades, blending land-based education with arts-enriched group engagement. Our annual camp in the South Okanagan welcomes youth from across British Columbia. Our program builds a foundation for stewardship towards the environment, the resurgence of Indigenous rights, and the transformation of our communities into healthy, vibrant places once again.
How We Helped
This grant from Lush enables us to use the Lhalem Llawathet Healing Retreat Centre run by the Sts’ailes First Nation for our ImagineNATION Youth Camp. Our camp is based on connecting youth with one another, with healthy adults, and with their culture. Connecting with the land is central to our activities. We are excited to be holding this year’s camp along the beautiful Chehalis River in the territory of S’ólh Temexw. This grant from Lush is enabling us to use a venue that provides a remarkable land-based and culturally appropriate environment for our 2017 camp.
