Founded in 2010, the National Museum of Animals & Society (NMAS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Los Angeles, California dedicated to enriching the lives of animals and people by exploring our shared experience. The first museum of its kind anywhere, it centers on animal protection and animal studies (where animals and culture intersect), and nurtures humanity’s legacy of compassion for animals through humane education programming for all ages. Multidisciplinary scholarly exhibitions chronicle many facets of the human-animal bond and offer engaging and transformative learning experiences both in the museum and online.

How We Helped

Lush's support has enabled our museum to develop and fabricate our permanent exhibition, "Animal Protection: An American Movement. » This multimedia cultural exploration shares the rich and untold history of animal protection, while empowering visitors to make compassionate lifestyle choices. For animal lovers new to advocacy, this exhibit presents a much-needed identity and a tremendous sense of community. Visitors realize that they stand on the shoulders of many generations of advocates who have also struggled to make meaningful change. Lush is helping us literally build this most important exhibition so we can educate the thousands of visitors who come to our museum every year.
