Saphichay is an indigenous rights and cultural survival organization based in Peru. We support bio-cultural conservation and work at conserving traditional knowledge, practices and bio-diversity. We are currently focused on food sovereignty issues amongst native farming communities and urban youth, making sure that our native plant species and their seeds are safe and thriving. Defending and reconnecting to our indigenous identity is a key element to being successful in bio-cultural conservation, which is why Saphichay focuses so strongly on reclaiming and re-empowering oneself through one’s indigenous identity.
How we helped
Thanks to Lush, we will be able to build out the infrastructure needed to save our native seeds, to host guests that come to learn from and support our native farmers, and get the community access to the workshops needed to produce and promote our work.
