BreakOUT!

BreakOUT! seeks to end the criminalization of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth ages 13-25. This New Orleans organization builds on the rich cultural tradition of resistance in the south to empower young LGBTQ people, and build a safer and more just city. The work they do has directly impacted the criminal justice system thanks to youth organizing, healing justice, and leadership development programs.

How we helped

The Charity Pot fund will support BreakOUT! in the creation of a new safe space for queer and trans youth of color where they can develop campaign strategies to push back against a repressive political climate. This includes developing public education campaigns about issues facing queer and trans youth of color and the need for safety and sanctuary in New Orleans, LA for communities targeted by state violence.
