FLush the TPP

FLushtheTPP is an action campaign focused on stopping the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and the Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA). We are individuals and organizations from a broad variety of movements who recognize these agreements will grant more rights to transnational corporations to sue our governments if we pass laws to protect public health, workers and the planet. They will drive greater privatization. We are rising together to demand a new era of trade agreements that are negotiated openly and with meaningful input from civil society. Treaties should put people and the planet before profits.

How we helped

The donation from Lush is the main source of funding for our Lame Duck Uprising action camp in November, 2016. This is a critical time to stop the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), an international treaty that will empower thousands of transnational corporations to sue our government if we pass laws that protect public health and safety, worker rights and wages and the environment, from being ratified by Congress. We are holding an action camp and four days of actions in Washington, DC to stop the TPP when Congress members return after the election. This will be followed by days of action in their home districts during the Thanksgiving break. These actions are essential to show that there is resistance to the TPP, to raise public awareness of the TPP and to inspire more actions to stop it. Our collective work over the years, in solidarity with people around the world, has made the TPP politically toxic and positioned us well to stop it. With the funds from Lush, we will have a place to feed and house activists for 5 days and to organize actions. We will be able to bring top artist activists to make our actions have clear messages and spectacle. And we will raise the skills of activists so that they can return to their homes to continue the fight. We appreciate Lush's commitment to protecting life and the planet.
