Gwich’in Steering Committee

The Gwich’in Steering Committee was formed in 1988 in response to proposals to drill oil in the Sacred Place Where Life Begins, the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The Gwich’in Steering Committiee brings together Chiefs and Elders of all Gwich’in villages from Canada to Alaska to speak with one voice against oil and gas development in the birthing and nursing grounds of the Porcupine Caribou Herd

How we helped

Funds from Charity Pot go towards the costs of the “Protecting the Arctic Wildlife Refuge Program”. This program is a week–long project featuring leadership development training, public presentations and large mural creation in Alaska.
