Helem Montreal

Helem Montreal is a non-profit organization with no political/religious affiliation working in Quebec within the Lebanese community to peacefully fight homophobia and trans-phobia. Helem has its origins in Lebanon but is also aware of the realities of LGBT/Queer individuals from other Arab communities. Helem is a basin of activism, of awareness-raising, of reflection, debate, sensitization and capacity building. The organization strives to protect its members from persecution and discrimination; to bring together Arab queer individuals and to increase awareness about LGBT issues and realities within its community. It also provides support to queer refugees and refers them to existing services.
