Lower Nine

Lower Nine is dedicated to is dedicated to the long-term recovery of the historic Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and the levee breaches of 2005. They’re rebuilding homes for displaced homeowners and working to mitigate blight, keeping residents in safe and secure housing. Training includes construction skills, community gardening projects, emotional and social support services, social outreach and community development, with the goal of establishing a holistic approach to resurrecting the neighborhood.

How we helped

This generous donation will help support us in a variety of ways. Some of the funds will go to buying materials for homeowners, creating walls, floors, roofs, cabinets and so much more. Another portion will help support crew leaders and volunteers as they work on rebuilding projects. It will also provide gas for transportation, tools and supplies, safety gear, and repairs/maintenance for work vehicles. We also provide housing and food to our longer-term volunteers and Lush’s support will help with literally fuelling our people to keep them energized as they build walls, lay tile and create beautiful homes for homeowners.
