OHS Initiative for Workers and Communities

The OHS Inititative for Workers and Communities is a joint project of six grassroots organizations in Dhaka, Bangladesh to provide workers in the garment, tannery, shipbreaking and other industries with information and training about workplace health and safety. Their "train-the-trainer" project will generate 75 grassroots-level, peer trainers who will provide workers, their families and communities with key information on workplace hazards, how these these hazards can be eliminated or reduced, and how workers can exercise their right to a safe and healthy workplace.

How we helped

The donation from Lush helped launch the OHS Initiative for Workers and Communities in Bangladesh and has provided critical support in establishing the train-the-trainer program's office, curriculum development and ongoing courses to reach women garment workers and others with key information on how to protect their safety and health at work.
