PERL (Protecting Escarpment Rural Land)

PERL (Protecting Escarpment Rural Land) was formed to protect and enhance Burlington’s Niagara Escarpment and rural land in the Region of Halton by working to preserve vital ecosystems and natural habitats. Ensuring the protection of endangered and threatened animal and plant species. They work to safeguard rural water tables, wells, wetlands and watercourses and to create a new vision for Mount Nemo including a comprehensive Natural Heritage System (NHS) and Cultural Heritage Landform area to be permanently preserved.

How we helped

Charity Pot funded the campaign costs to protect the Niagara escarpment and Mount Nemo from aggregate development, which would have threatened the local ecosystem.
