Permaculture Institute in El Salvador
Permaculture Institute in El Salvador is a grassroots organization of subsistence farmers registered as a Not for Profit Foundation with the government of El Salvador. Their mission is to promote permaculture for the development of a healthier and more ecologically sustainable society. The group of farming families support each other in growing healthy food and learning to survive climate change disasters. Remembering their traditional ways to care for Mother Earth and live in community, they are disseminating their knowledge across villages and between generations.
How we helped
Charity Pot funds were used towards half the costs of establishing a Permaculture Apprenticeship Program for 20 graduates in ten communities in Suchitoto, El Salvador. This program aims to educate local farmers about the importance of permaculture principles and sustainable land management.
