Philly Thrive

Philly Thrive is a community organization fighting for environmental justice and our right to breathe. We're building a movement of Philadelphians powerful enough to end public support for toxic fossil fuel pollution in our city. We envision a just transition to living wage, green jobs that benefit working families. We build strong community teams that take bold action and pressure city decision-makers to act for community health.

How we helped

Lush provided vital funding for our first major demonstration drawing attention to the toxic health effects of the South Philly refinery, called the Right to Breathe Mobilization. As part of a global week of action to Break Free from Fossil Fuels, Philly Thrive and our partner ACTION United organized the first community demonstration at the refinery in the company's history. The Mobilization allowed us to reach hundreds of new potential members directly, and spread our message across the city with increased media attention, keeping up the pressure on the refinery and our city officials to stop the refinery's toxic pollution and plans to expand.
