Can you imagine not being able to read - write - perform basic math functions - or speak English? Too many adults struggle through life without these skills. Reading Works provides free tutoring to adults in reading, writing, math, computer skills, and English as a Second Language in Albuquerque, New Mexico. New Mexico has one of the highest illiteracy rates in the nation. Our volunteer tutors create individualized lessons designed to help our clients achieve their dreams: get a job, earn a high school equivalency, attend community college classes, become a U.S. citizen, read to a child.

How we helped

The donation from Lush enables Reading Works to teach 180 adults to read and write -- or prepare for a high school equivalency test -- or learn to speak English as a Second Language.
