Repair Café Toronto organizes events where neighbours help neighbours to repair broken household objects – computers, electronics, small appliances, furniture, clothing, jewellery, books, bikes and more. If you can carry it, we will try to fix it. Volunteers repair for, repair with, and teach repair to residents in various communities across the city. All for free!
Our aim is to build a more sustainable society and counter the throwaway mindset. We support a sharing and circular economy. We work to create a community where repair skills are valued and people cooperate for the common good.
With the help of the Charity Pot donation, more successful repairs can be made at each event because of increased tool availability. With a 3D printer we can create new parts, which means even less waste.
In addition, each Repair Café will be made safer and more comfortable for the volunteers and visitors. In turn, this will attract more volunteers and community participants thereby growing the number of Repair Cafés across Toronto and beyond.
With improved communications, we can better spread the message that repair is vital to sustainability and the circular economy.
