Established in 1993, El Eden Ecological Reserve is the first private reserve in the Yucatan Peninsula and the first in Mexico dedicated to scientific research for Biodiversity Conservation. Through scientific research, human resource training and environmental policy, El Eden is working towards the long term protection and management of biodiversity. El Eden has been collaborating with academic institutions, conducting studies on restoration ecology, biological inventories, ecological processes and archeology, as well as the effects of forest fires and hurricane disturbances on the tropical forests.
