Undoing Racism Austin is a collective of artists, lawyers, community members, educators and leaders committed to undoing racism. They are bringing light to painful racial inequities both in individual lives and system-wide. URA’s work with The People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond includes Undoing Racism trainings. This emphasizes the history of racism, developing leadership, maintaining accountability to communities, creating networks, undoing internalized racial oppression and understanding the role of organizational gate-keeping as a mechanism for perpetuating racism.
How we helped
Charity Pot's donation will fund 3 Undoing Racism training sessions. This will allow an additional 130 people to join our growing city-wide racial justice network. Every training session is an essential step toward manifesting our vision of making Austin a leader in racial equity.
Charity Pot funding also allowed 70 people across races, ages and genders to participate in a Human Rights Comission on police accountability. Powerful testimony and recommendations were given that will be incorporated into a resolution for city action.
