Works well but WHOO the smell

star-star-filled star-star-filled star-star-filled star-star-filled star-star-empty

I am of English/Irish descent and have fine hair that takes well to texture if I encourage that, which I do. This product does encourage my flyaways and frizz to get it together and be curls, which I love. It does not weigh my hair down, and I use it in conjunction to my spray gel and hair spray. It gives nice definition. Generally I love vanilla scents, but this one has a SHARPness to it that I can't quite place. It goes right up the nose with a sharp note rather than the soft sweetness one usually associates with vanilla. It does wear off, and I use it sparingly, but it is quite strong.

The smell...

I bought this the other day, couldn't smell it in the store, but the reviews seemed overall good, so wanted to try it. I put the tiniest amount in my palm, like 1/2 a spritz, and used in the the ends of my hair and the scent is too overwhelming for me. Followed me around the next day. It smells like the base of Sleepy (sans the lavender), maybe more intense and sweet, with a hint of lemon. Honestly, smells like a drug-store vanilla body spray. Caveat is I don't like heavy vanilla or sweet scents. I was hoping it would wear off, but of course, the scents you hate are the most tenacious. I think I'm gonna have to return it :( On a side note, I'm finding that a lot of the Lush products are not good for color treated hair. Especially the ones that have citrus extracts. My dark color seems to fade to a brassy light brown quickly with Lush hair products, which bums me out cuz there a some I truly love.

I have mixed feelings about this one...

First off, the SMELL is borderline unbearable. It's sickeningly sweet and I'm so frustrated that Lush is the only place I can get products that seem to really work for my hair, because I hate the way almost everything here smells. Can they not just tone it down at least??? Ugh. Besides the smell, the product does seem to work really well. It instantly makes my hair feel smoother, and when I put it in right after my shower, but hair looks significantly less dry and frizzy, though it doesn't solve the problem entirely. It also works well if I spray it in my hair during my morning routine, which is just finger combing my hair with wet hands so get it damp to revive some of the curl. This stuff makes it feel nice and smooth and makes detangling much easier. The problem is that once I've used it, the next time I go to wet my hair, it feels AWFUL. It feels like straw. I can 'fix' the problem by applying more of the product, but I didn't use to have to do this before the discontinued my favourite conditioner. Now I have no choice but to use extra products to keep my hair manageable. I'm not sure if I'm going to continue with this one. It works well, sort of, but any time I use it it's like I'm locked into using it daily until my next wash. Oh, and I HAVE to shampoo it out if I want my conditioner to work at all. So I'm not shampooing my hair more than I normally would, which is annoying.

Love!

I am OBSESSED with this product. It smells AMAZING and helps my processed hair from horrible knots. It's pricey but so worth it.

The packaging is a huge problem

I have 2A and 2B type but insanely thirsty especially the ends. I use it as a leave-in conditioner and also a refresher. It also tames my frizz but never left my hair flat or limp. I would repurchase this if they change the packaging. I had to resort to pouring it into one of those travel tubes.

Not great for dyed hair

I don't have any beef with this product, and it definitely doesn't burn like the last iteration of it luckily, but I test tons of products individually and in combination with others, and every time this product was used it stripped my hair a bit more of it's red color (this may be a red hair dye only issue and since I'm loving my Ronald McDonald realness, it may not have this same effect on those with virgin hair - also I have fine hair not textured).

Proceed with caution

I have 3b-3c curls with low porosity. I used this to help revive my 2nd day curls. The smell is strong and yes it does go away a bit once it dries but not enough for me. I had to add water to the bottle once I used some of it to try and dilute it but it didn't make much of a difference. As for how the product worked in my hair, it didn't revive my curls and it weighed them down significantly. I lost both definition and volume. The product dries alright but it left my hair feeling like I needed another wash day 5 days too soon. For those who are unsure about trying this I would recommend getting the smaller size or visiting a lush store in person to smell the product yourself since it can be pretty strong.

Ok this item has not only saved and rehydrated my hair, but also tamed my frizz. My curls drink this milk up after my shower, and it smells AMAZING for the next few days. I seriously recommend trying this one out

The only product that works for my frizz!

I have NEVER found a product that dealt with my frizz or defined my curls until Super Milk. This product is AMAZING, and doesn't leave any kind of residue. After using it, my hair is very light and soft (I have thick, curly, frizzy hair) and my curls are defined and reinvigorated. The smell is very strong but also very nice if you like sweet smells.

Works well but you'll smell like a bakery

I have 4c hair, and love what this product does for it, but the smell of it is so strong I only use it when I know I'm not going anywhere the next day (which, these days it often). It's probably OK for people who don't mind smelling like a bakery oven all day, or don't mind people questioning why they smell like that all the time, but I'm already on the hunt for a replacement product that doesn't make me feel so conscious about it when I'm out & about. Unfortunate because since using it (about 3 months) I've noticed a lot less breakage!
