Not effective for persistent dandruff

I've been having issues with itchy, dry, flaky scalp. I wanted to try out a lush product before I jump to a chemical based product, but I have to say I was sorely disappointed. I found the superbalm hard to apply to the scalp directly as it mostly clung to my hair as I massaged it in, so I didn't notice any immediate relief after application. Then I tried to wash it out of my hair with no luck. A day later my hair is so greasy I can gel it straight up with my hands. My scalp is still iritated although not flaky as I assume it is sticking to all the grease! I would try a second application if I could figure out a way to apply just to the scalp and not the hair. The smell is also bad, and clings to the hair even after shampoo. The one benefit is that my hair feels super soft from all that coconut oil, but not the treatment I was looking for over all.

The only thing that has ever worked

I'm a cynic , and most products don't work for me. I'm used to getting about 70% of the result I want. Have been dealing with dry itchy scalp for more than a decade but with a recent wether change, it got so much worse and was causing my hair to fall out from how much I was itching and how dry it was. I found this product after looking up dream cream for scalp (lol) and bought it with Big to make sure to get it out. I watched the video on the website and followed instructions, used only a little. Had no problems getting it out and my scalp seems cured. It feels better than I have ever felt it, and my hair is shiny and moisturized, no itching or flakes. And this is someone who has even tried medical grade treatments and shampoos for dermatitis! So I love this result and will probably switch all my shampoos over to lush because my scalp obviously doesn't like the conventional and even the other natural- grade shampoos at all.

After using this product a few times I have to say my Scalp has way less itchy dandruff. However the smell isn't super amazing so that's why I'm only giving it 4 stars. But if you can get over the strong scent definitely a working product!

I liked the smell but HATED the aftermath..

pair it with a scalp massager for perfection

Between this and a silicone scalp massager I am finally able to handle the dry af dandruff spot I get right at the front of my scalp. Can't be on the back of my head, or right on the crown, it's right at the front near the start of the part in my hair. With giant ugly flakes. Once a week I apply this to my scalp, specifically on that patch, and I use a silicone massager to massage it in and knock any flakes use. After one use the production of flakes was greatly diminished.

This is the key to a healthy, hydrated scalp in the winter!

I have had a terribly dry scalp this winter It has been tight, dry, and driving me CRAZY!!! So, I tried the Superbalm scalp treatment as a last resort and bought the avocado co-wash to wash my hair with after the treatment. OMG! It's the perfect combo for me. I applied it with my finger pads (a little goes a long way), massaged it in, let it sit for a while, and washed it out. I significant relief after one use! After having used it a few times not and increasing my water intake to ensure I am staying hydrated, my scalp feels so MUCH better and I am so glad I found this product. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I have gone through so many dandruff shampoos and many types of charcoal shampoos. To try and remove the flaky and itchiness of my scalp. I use the trial of this and immediately saw a difference. It was my first time so i figured I wasn't going to see rapid results. But OMG, scalp wasn't as itchy and my flakes were almost gone. I'm sure the more I use it the less flakes I'll see. But it was definitely worth it for me.

After 4 years of misery I have found relief

I have suffered a terrible scalp issue for the past 4 years. Somehow it stopped being on both sides of my scalp and is only on one side... but it's bad and no shampoo (I've tried them all) has helped. I decided to try this. I used it two days ago as directed and I washed and conditioned with Lush's Seanik and Big bars. My itching and flakes were reduced by about half. Last night I had a sudden itch/flake attack but only in 3 small areas so I used some balm on them before bed. I also used a little dry shampoo after letting it sit for a while but it didn't make my hair too greasy. I left it on overnight, and today I only felt one tiny tiny patch with a flake. I'm wearing a black sleep shirt and I can't believe I'm not seeing any flakes on my shoulder. I haven't looked at my shoulder in 4 years without seeing at least a few flakes. So far I'm extremely impressed and I'm not experiencing any of the negative things in other reviews. My daughter is a cosmetologist and she thinks that probably anyone who couldn't wash this out used water too much of it. A dab or two is seriously all you need and then massage it it and add more sparingly as necessary. I highly recommend if you've tried everything else with no luck. I can wear black shirts and dresses again without worry! Yay!

I have a dry, itchy scalp with dandruff. I dont know my exact hair type but my hair itself is not finicky and I can usually use anything and have no problems. I've tried MANY products for my scalp: homemade, all natural, store bought etc. This was awful. Hard to apply, hard to wash out. It left my hair feeling greasy and oily for days. The smell was awful! It did not do anything to help my scalp, granted I only tried it the one time, but with most decent products I will at least be not itchy for a day. Don't buy, save $25.

At first, using a little bit on my hair and washing it out left my hair greasy and my scalp still flakey. So then I started using a larger amount on my scalp, and left it on overnight. Then I washed my hair in sections and it actually worked! 90% gone. I guess I just needed a more liberal amount.
