Safe product, loved the results

If you watch the videos, people spend an hour grating six blocks with a cheese grater (I didn't). I have very long hair and only used 2-3 of blocks at a time, which I chopped with a knife. I love that this gave my hair a natural color, and it seemed to cover my wisps of grey. My hair felt smooth and healthy, but the product loses a star because the mess is a nightmare, no matter how well you think you're containing it, and the price is a tad outrageous. It would be nice if Lush offered a smaller, single-use sample size option for less money. It was such a hassle to do this on my own that I did it twice, and never again. I haven't found a natural product with better results though, so may consider buying again.

Worked amazingly. I'm in my 20s with lots of gray and looking for something to cover them without the cancer risk. I have medium length hair, so I used 1/2 a bar and left it on for a little under 3 hours. I left uncovered to dry and it turned out just slightly richer than my natural color without the grays. Will buy again.

The main reason I bought this henna is because I want to avoid toxic chemicals. I did a big investigation before I found your product and my efforts were not useless. I really like everything in this product: smell, ingredients,... I mixed 2 colors: brun and maroon and I got the color that I expected to. Also, my husband was dying my hair... I found it was a good time to spend together and talk ))) no need to schedule appointment with the hairdresser and to drive somewhere. You got natural color and healthy hair at home. Lush, thank you so much for doing so amazing work. I have already recommended your products to a few my friends ❤️

I've been dying my hair for a few years and noticed my scalp was irritated and flakey. One lush visit changed that and I've been a henna fan since! Henna is a wonderful dye alternative and is very healthy for your scalp! Depending on the color you want you can either wrap your hair for a lighter color or leave it unwrapped for darker tones. It looks beautiful and leaves your scalp feeling wonderful! Pair it with the avocado shampoo bar, or fair trade honey shampoo with the American cream conditioner not only will you have great smelling hair, but your scalp with thank you for it!

I'm a naturally curly girl trying to cover grey hair and help relieve dandruff. I used this product about 5 months ago I was please with the results until my hair started to grow. I left the product on for about 2 hours as it says. My curly hair pattern is damaged it will no longer grow curly properly . It has 4 inches of new growth Some very very loose curly and most straight hair ( very very upsetting) and my hair follicles seem to be damaged from this product I used it in the past and also thinking back I noticed a difference. I absolutely do not recommend using this product and I will look into this further as my hair is not growing like it normally has in the past. I will never buy from this company again and I will continue to write bad reviews about this product

From Mousy to Chocolate

Highly recommend! I have thick, shoulder-length, mousy brown hair. I cut up 2/3 of the BRUN bar, added boiling water and stirred until it was brownie-mix consistency. Then kept the bowl over a pot of hot water to keep it gooey. Applied to my scalp in sections, kept in for 5.5 hours, then rinsed out and conditioned (did not shampoo!). Didn't wash my hair for two days and now its a deep chocolate brown and I love it! The henna smell is still lingering 4 days later but hopefully it will fade :)

I've been using Lush Henna for about 3 years now thanks to a rep in the store that recommended it to me and I LOVE IT. Prior to using Henna, my hair was so over-processed from regular hair dye looking dry, lifeless, brittle, and aging. I now use Lush's Henna and no kidding my hair is revitalized! I use 2 squares Brun and 2 squares Noir -- that's the perfect brown with highlights! Chop finely, add boiling water in a large heavy plastic bowl, use just enough water and stir to make a 'brownie batter' consistency then added just a bit more hot water. It may seem runny but it thickens as it cools. Very messy but worth it. I start with tools: a trash bag, 10 separate paper towels for spills on face/neck/ears, etc, plastic wrap, plastic gloves, and wear an old shirt into the bathroom to apply. Apply at root and saturate one section at a time. Once complete, pull all hair up on top of head in a ball and wrap head fully with plastic wrap. (It doesn't dry out this way.) I do this at night then sleep for 5-6 hours (with old towel on my pillow in case some escapes the plastic wrap). In the am, rinse fully with hot water, then shampoo twice and condition once. (The first time, I went outside and used the garden hose to rinse out WHICH WAS SO WRONG as cold water makes Henna super gummy.) Anyways, it's a little work and messy but my hair is always a beautiful color, covers my gray, super conditioned, thicker, fuller, shiny, soft and I get tons of compliments. Super happy !! I reapply every 5 weeks. PS If you haven't used henna before, watch videos first on how to apply - definitely helps.

It's henna don't expect much

So I but the color brun because it was half off so I thought why not. I never colored my hair. I'm 17. I have mid length, thick hair and the full block was enough. I left it in for 3 hours and the color is amazing. It's darker with a bit of red. Absolutely beautiful. Healthy looking. Bit messy and stinky but bearable.

This is one messy project. The good thing is, it's easy to clean up when you make a mess. After about 3.5 hours I jumped in the shower and was ready to go. The henna dried up like a ball of cement on top of my head. At first I thought my hair was going to break in half but once you let the water run over it, it starts to loosen up. I shampooed about 3 times to get all the color and grittiness out of my hair. My shower looked like sandbox by the time i was done. In the end it was all worth it. The color is perfect and my hair is so silky soft and shiny. I'll definitely be making this mess again.

Worthy alternative

When I found out that synthetic hair dye promoted breast cancer, I decided it wasn't worth it to use any longer. So, I tried this out. I have a pixie cut, and I used a third of the bar, though I may have needed less. My hair is naturally dark, ash brown. I cut the portion of the bar into small bits with a knife, mixed it with hot water into a henna 'sauce,' worked it into my hair and waited four hours uncovered before washing it out. My hair was left glossy and smooth; a far cry from how was after using synthetic dye. It definitely lent a lovely shade to my hair and enhanced my natural color. In my opinion it looks more natural than when I go with a synthetic. It didn't cover the grays I have as well as I would have liked (they were left with a more coppery shade, and my roots didn't change much), but I'm going to try again and really target the roots and any other problem areas. Overall, I think I found an alternative to synthetic dyes.
