This is my go-to shampoo bar from Lush! I have super short (pixie cut), thick hair and my scalp tends towards oily. This leaves me feeling squeaky clean without being overly drying, which is great because I prefer shampooing frequently. I wasn't sure how volumizing this one was since I have shorter hair, but after I switched back to an older shampoo I was trying to use up, I noticed my hair was definitely more textured and fluffy (in a good way, not a frizzy mess) when using Flyaway Hair. My hair looks noticeably more flat and limp and just blah with other shampoos. This one makes it super easy for me to style my hair just how I like it! I only have two complaints and both are cosmetic. The color is super pretty when you first buy it, but after one use it looks washed out and ugly. The other problem is the huge pile of salt on top. Again, looks pretty when you first buy it but after one use it gets stained teal and you cannot use the side of the bar with all the salt. It looks nice on the shelves at the store, but not in your bathroom! I should also mention the scent: it is light and super pleasant. It doesn't smelly lemony like I expected. The only way I can describe it is if you took Honey I Washed the Kids and toned it down A LOT. It's not super sweet or floral or citrusy, just...fine and inoffensive. I don't think many people would have a problem with it.
I had a great experience with the New shampoo bar until I started experiencing hair loss. I changed my diet, vitamin intake, and even cut my hair (no I do not put heat on my hair). My sister experienced the same thing while using the New bar and the only fix was switching to Big and Sexy shampoo and conditioner. I decided to instead switch to the Flayaway shampoo bar except now I am losing just as much hair AND it is extremely tangled. I will be going back to my salon shampoo and conditioner that posed no problems. (Note: I lost 5x more hair than usual when showering)
I truly wanted to love this product but it did not spread out easily on my hair. When applying to my hair, I felt the product didn't come out as much and wasn't expecting much of a lather/bubbles to form. On top of that it didn't really clean my scalp that well and felt my hair oily the next day.
Because of the hard salt on the top, you can only really rub on one side of the bar. Super awkward. If you spin it to create a lather as I normally do - it's impossible. I have literally cut my hand on the bar. I was expecting a similar effect on my hair that I get when I use Seanic or BIG. Unfortunately this bar cleanses hair but does not have any other redeeming quality.
I've been on a journey to find my favorite shampoo bar to meet my hair goals (increase volume, lighten, thicken, shine), I've used about half of this bar, and at least so far, its not my favorite (personally for my goals). Of course the smell is wonderful! But the lather of this bar isn't quite as much as some others (my favs are New and Angel Hair) Also, my hair has been feeling quite flat and thin lately, but of course I don't want to put all the blaim on the bar! If your hair sounds at all like mine I would recommend looking for another, but I cannot recommend lush as a whole strongly enough, they will have the perfect product for everyone for sure! But, depending on your hair type totally give it a try!
I have fine short hair and shampoo 1-2 times a week. I always used to say that shampoo days are "sad days" because my hair would get almost fluffy which looked silly with my textured pixie cut. And it would take days for my natural oil to make my hair look good again.
I used the Montalbano bar in the past and loved it. Switched to some random brand, disliked it. Came back to Lush for Montalbano, but also wanted a second bar to try and landed on this one. This bar smells great, fresh and a little zingy and cologne-y in a great way - and the chunks of sea salt on top are a nice touch that leave my hair feeling textured and beachy but also clean. No more sad shampoo days! Also smells great paired with the Sea Vegetable bar soap. I'm living my sea salt fantasy over here. 🤩
I bought this to switch it up from New bar but went Right back! (In our house we use New, Jumping Juniper, Dirty, Ho eh I washed my hair and Snow Fairy, as we all have different needs hair wise) the Flyway bar made my oily hair lifeless and limp (I'm used to the Volume of the New Bar) It may just be my hair not loving it but I will leave this one in the store and buy some Big in a small pot and use that when I need a Pick me up!!
I've always kept multiple shampoos in the shower because alternating was the only way my hair felt clean. Now I just use this bar! I have thin blonde hair that always looked slightly dirty by the end of day, but this shampoo has helped me rock some second day hair. It lasted me about eight months. I have already recommended this to a friend.
I LOVE this bar. It makes my hair softer and shinier than it ever has been and I am in love. The first couple of weeks that I was using it were a bit rough, and my hair felt kind of dry, but that was likely a combination of switching to a different, more organic shampoo and the weather. My hair has never looked this good, and I credit this bar and the American Cream conditioner bar. They've also lasted so long. I thought the price was a bit steep at first ($14 dollars for a bar?), but it's now November and I've been using this same bar since mid-JANUARY, washing my hair 1-2 times per week. I used to wash my hair a lot more frequently, especially during the summer months, but lately one wash a week and occasional rinses are good enough with this bar. It also doesn't strip my hair, so I'm okay if I use it without conditioner.
I received this as a birthday present and I'm so happy I did! I loved the smell and was so happy to start using more eco friendly products! I think it could do without the salt on top as it goes away after a few uses away. I don't really see the point, but over all I really like this shampoo bar and will buy again!
