Loved the shampoo

San Marcos, Ca | 4 days ago

I use this every night. About three times a year I get bad dandruff. This cleared it up in less than a week. I don't think the smell is strong. I'm definitely purchasing again. I paid it with the American Cream conditioner.

Doesn't help frizz much, does feel great

Newark, NJ | 15 days ago

I got this on a whim. My usual is Daddy-O bc I like the lemon scent, and saw this also had a lemon smell. Smelling it the first time was weird though. It has such a strange smell especially when washing with it. However, it doesn't stay very strong, and after rinsing the smell mellows and is actually really nice! I actually have started really liking the wheaty-lemony smell, and it matches my futch aesthetic so kudos. It feels great and does keep my ends from splitting too, and my hair has been pretty shiny so thanks lush! However, it doesn't do much for frizz. I haven't been able to use conditioner since I cut my hair short bc my hair gets too oily, so I like to try using anti-frizz shampoos. My hair has always been frizzy to the point of my friend just dead saying it didn't look like I brushed my hair. I've learned to lean into the disheveled look, but it still would have been nice to have something to tame it, especially now that it's summer. Maybe it will work better in winter when it's cold, but for me, it just didn't work.

I wanted to love this.....

Toronto | 30 days ago

I have incredible thick, oily, course hair and this does NOT work for me. The scent is divine but it's very watery. I also find it extremely tangles my hair. I really wanted to love this! It does clean my hair but I think Lush offers far superior products for hair.

Works well but don't like smell

Indio, CA | 1 month ago

I think this shampoo does a great job at cleaning my hair, but unfortunately the scent just isn't for me. I'm sure there are others who like it, but to me it smells like rotten beer...but maybe that's just me. Afterall, I'm not a beer drinker :)

Literally the only Lush shampoo that killed my frizz!

Oh my god this product is the best thing that ever happened to my hair. I know this sounds hyperbolic but when they stopped selling this product in stores and the sales associates offered me alternatives (which i both purchased and sampled) NONE of them left me with a full head of healthy curls, either my bangs were frizzy or my whole head was frizzy. I tried different methods for taking care of my hair post shower, too. Focusing on this shampoo, you get a lot of mileage out of a small amount of product due to its consistency, compared to other products I was offered to substitute this one, such as curly wurly and fairly traded honey. It's also got a distinct smell that, while it may be jarring to those using the product for the first time, is not at all unpleasant! Its fragrant enough to stick with you for a few hours, as well. It's does a fantastic job at keeping my hair moisturized and allowing it to actually form curls, and, again, in my experience is the most effective product Lush offers for this effect! In addition, it works on bleached hair, so you don't have to worry about having any dyed sections be frizzy while the rest of your hair curls! Additional tips for curly-haired individuals also having trouble with frizz, I typically shower at night to keep my curls from being weighed down as they dry (they dry while i sleep) and brush ONLY after showering. If you have longer hair (I suppose my hair is only really considered "long" for a boy, its pretty short) then I assume having your hair weighed down is a non-issue, but please, if you have curly hair, only ever brush it when wet or you'll end up with frizz regardless of how you wash your hair!! Overall I'm devestated this product is in danger of being discontinued! I've had so much trouble trying to find a product to properly substitute it! I hope it at least manages to keep an online presence, because I will, without a doubt, continue to purchase it!!

I don't drink beer but I LOVE this shampoo!

I just wanna say that I LOVE this product, and am honestly shocked by how much I am now obsessed with it! I bought this to share with my boyfriend who is an avid Stout Beer drinker. I thought it would be a cutesy gimmicky gift to try so I got the smallest bottle. I don't drink beer so I wasn't sure if I'd like the smell. I read it helped with frizzy hair, which I can get sometimes because I air-dry my hair every day. I use a different brand of mild conditioner and when I added this shampoo to my routine - WOW did it make a difference! My hair was softer, less frizzy, shinier, and smelled great! The smell is kind of strong (what I think is the cognac in it) but I don't mind it. Reordering the next size up because my boyfriend also loved it!

Anti-frizz but makes hair flat

OH | 1 year ago

I tried this because I loved the idea of a beer shampoo that is voluminizing yet anti-frizz. I've had a lot of frizz/static in my hair recently so I figured this would be great for that. The anti-frizz part is true but it only made my hair really flat and greasy looking. I would not recommend this if your hair is thin or gets greasy easily because there is no volume whatsoever. If your hair is thicker and voluminous already it should be a good product, but not great for my hair type. The saving grace of this shampoo is I think it smells great and the smell is exactly what you would expect of a beer based shampoo. Just disappointed it didnt work well for me. I'll keep using it until it's gone but I likely won't buy it again.

Didn't love it

Newmarket | 1 year ago

I didn't love the shampoo. It was really liquidy and I didn't think it went very far, felt like I had to use a lot to get really clean har.

Great for frizz! Love the results.

I have very frizzy, fine hair, and this is the ONLY shampoo I've found that really works. I also love that it smells wonderful and rinses without an oily residue. I hope that it goes back into the local shops so that I do not have to order online.

Curlfriends, listen up-

Chicago | 1 year ago

First of all, I tried some of this in the largest size available in the US a couple years ago and loved it. Of course, as soon as I went back to repurchase, I found out it was only available in the UK! :( After trying some other products that I was drawn to, eventually I took the plunge and ordered a liter of it from the UK website. It was a bit pricey but I was immediately reminded of why I loved it so much in the first place. It can be a bit tricky to lather in longer hair, but I found that flipping my hair upside down, using a generous amount and slapping it on the crown of my scalp and then massaging it down to the ends works just fine. As for the end results? I can't tell you how many friends have asked what shampoo I use because it smells "lemony" and a bit "earthy." And my curls have never looked cleaner or more defined! This shampoo, Retread Conditioner, and then some Queen Bee for scrunching has given me the best looking, smelling, and HEALTHIEST feeling hair I've ever had. I'd be dying to get this back in stores in the US eventually, but until then at least I can get it somewhere :)
