What are Mouthwash Tabs?

A solid introduction to our freshest creations

Carefully formulated and tested to be the perfect concentration of mouth-freshening ingredients, our mouthwash tabs are a great alternative to the liquid stuff. We give you the lowdown on what they are, why they’re solid, and why you should take them with you everywhere.

Mouthwash 101

If the only mouthwash you know is the minty liquid that makes your whole mouth feel like it’s on fire, then you’re in for a treat. Our solid mouthwash tablets will keep your mouth feeling fresh and clean long after you’ve brushed your teeth—all without the burning sensation. They’ve been developed as a handy, portable way to refresh your breath…rather than a product used to clean the teeth or gums. They weren’t designed to replace toothpaste, and should be used in conjunction with a good diet, brushing, flossing, and regular trips to see your dentist.

The benefits

With liquid mouthwash, the amount of product you take into your mouth can vary, but mouthwash tabs have been formulated and tested to be the perfect concentration of ingredients. After brushing, pop one into your mouth, take a sip of water to start the fizz, and then nibble and swish before spitting out.

Two great flavors

Lush offers a duo of mouthwash tabs that offer two slightly separate benefits. Zing! is a bright, bold citrus palate cleanser with essential oils like grapefruit, litsea cubeba, and Brazilian orange. Meanwhile, Himalayan salt packs some salty sweetness, and xylitol and stevia serve as worry-free breath fresheners. And for those who love a classic mint flavor, Crème De Menthe offers a double dose of tingles for an intoxicating blast of icy coolness.

One little tablet with big breath-freshening power.

A person holds one green, diamond-shaped Crème De Menthe Mouthwash Tab between their fingers in one hand, and a small pot filled with the rest of the tabs in the other.

In addition to an expert blend of mouth-freshening oils, our tabs also contain citric and malic acids. Citric acid helps give our tabs their solid shape and helps create fizz when combined with sodium bicarbonate. Malic acid helps boost the flavor of the mouthwash tab, and therefore the effect of the ingredients used. For example, menthol and peppermint oil offer an extra kick thanks to malic acid and that extra flavor makes your mouth feel fresher and enhances the experience.

What ingredient won’t you find in our mouthwash tabs? Fluoride. While you might find it in traditional mouthwashes, fluoride has always been controversial and, as such, we don’t feel comfortable adding it to the oral products we make, including our mouthwash tabs.
