Lush Cosmetics | Meet Our Seaweed Supplier: Part 4

Canadian Kelp harvests their product entirely by hand in a process that’s as sustainable as cutting a lawn. Louis Druehl and Kate Rolheiser describe how they harvest: only a small portion of the kelp is removed, while the rest of the plant is left intact to grow back within a couple of months. And in any particular area, only 20% of the kelp can be harvested at a time. Druehl has a deep understanding of the importance of kelp to the local ecosystem, and is committed to respecting the resource he works with.
